Testimonials
My son was born at 32 weeks and spent a little over four weeks in the NICU. He came home at 36 weeks on breastmilk bottles. Having breastfed my other babies, I had a lofty goal to breastfeed him directly and be able to quit pumping. I was struggling to transition him from bottles to breast, while also making sure he was receiving adequate nutrition for his gestation. He was such a tiny (5lb) baby and was still so sleepy. When I attempted to breastfeed, milk would pour out of his mouth and I was worried he wasn’t swallowing any. We were given a strict weight gain daily goal by our pediatrician, and I felt extreme pressure to stay within that goal. I did not want to waste a feed (and his energy/awake time) with an unsuccessful breastfeeding session.
During Dr. Renno’s visit, she helped us obtain an adequate latch that she and I both felt was going to provide him the nutrition he needed. When she left, I felt a huge weight had been lifted, and I had hope that he and I could do this together.
As my son and I became more successful with feeding at the breast, I experienced horrible blisters and bleeding. I began to dread feeding him because the pain was so severe. My milk would not let down because it was so painful. Dr. Renno returned for a follow up exam and gave advice to stop the blistering and help me heal. I’m thrilled to say my son is almost 10 months old and we are still exclusively breastfeeding. It is a breeze now because Dr. Renno helped us build a good foundation.
Breastfeeding is a very rewarding experience but can be so difficult. I had a huge desire to breastfeed my son. Even with that desire, I can honestly say I would not be breastfeeding him still today if not for Dr. Renno and the services she provided. I was defeated and ready to give up. She truly gave us back the opportunity to have this special bond and I am so grateful.

I highly recommend Dr. Hannah Renno for any lactation needs. My only regret is I wish I had found her sooner!
As a first time mom and a fellow physician, I know just how important it is to get the right advice from someone with the appropriate training. Dr. Renno is not only a pediatrician but also an IBCLC, and is invested in learning about the mom’s goals and educating the mother, which I found so refreshing and helpful.
My goal was to exclusively breastfeed but unfortunately, at the advice of a different pediatrician, was told to start formula due to weight loss (I am not against formula if medically indicated). There was NO discussion about my breastfeeding goals, or advice about how to keep up supply if supplementing. However, I knew something was wrong when the amount I supplemented kept increasing, and my supply remained low. I went on to see three more providers, two of which were lactation consultants. None were able to address my concerns, or they blew them off altogether. In fact, my daughter was diagnosed incorrectly with a posterior tongue tie, which I knew she did not have.
I was at wits’ end when I was introduced to Dr. Renno. The biggest service she provided me was reassurance—that there was nothing wrong with my baby, and she did not need a tongue tie surgery! She also listened to my goals, and provided ample advice that helped me continue to provide breast milk for my baby, at a pace that worked for me. I got permission to stop triple feeding, and found a balance between breast milk and formula. I truly believe that if I had started with her first, I could have avoided so much heartache. Nonetheless, I am so glad to have finally found her, and have learned so much from her!
If you are on the fence about breastfeeding medicine and are a first time mom, MAKE THE APPOINTMENT to see Dr. Renno. Breastfeeding is hard, and it takes perseverance but also support to make sure you and your baby are doing well. Dr. Renno provided that. I hope my experience will help others to have a more successful breastfeeding journey!

I struggled through a year of breastfeeding with my first child, pumping every two hours, but my supply was never enough. I saw lactation consultants regularly and tried everything to increase supply. With my second baby, I had plenty of milk, but she was not gaining weight. She would nurse for an hour and still not be satisfied, or she would fall asleep mid-feed. Additionally, it seemed like whatever my baby consumed, she immediately expelled.
My pediatrician told me it was time to consider pumping exclusively. I was exhausted, confused, discouraged, and stressed. I wanted so badly to breastfeed for a year.
After my first meeting with Dr. Renno, I cried tears of relief. During our first appointment, she immediately put me at ease. She made sure our latch was proper, she thoroughly examined my child, and even more importantly, she connected with me, a struggling and exhausted mom. She told me this was fixable. For Dr. Renno, it was not just about the baby’s health. It was also about me as a mom and what goals I had as well as how I was feeling emotionally and physically.
Working with Dr. Renno completely changed the trajectory of my breastfeeding experience. With her help, we taught my daughter how to be a more efficient eater. We also determined that dairy was not an option for me while breastfeeding, so Dr. Renno helped me navigate the dairy-free lifestyle. I was able to breastfeed my child, pump enough milk for a freezer supply for daycare, and maintain that for a year. Most importantly, though, I was able to achieve all of this with my sanity—and nipples—intact. She helped make that time with my child enjoyable and maintainable.
Dr. Renno is one of the best providers I have ever had. She cared for me as much as she cared for my child. She is an expert at lactation. Couple that with the fact that she is a pediatrician and mom of four who can relate to you as a new, nursing mother is invaluable to her ability to provide amazingly compassionate care. It was life changing for me and my child.

I am a second time mom, nursing my now 17-month-old, and I credit our successful breastfeeding journey to Dr. Hannah Renno.
On just our second day home from the hospital, my precious baby girl had stopped latching completely. She would act hungry and as soon as she got ready to nurse, she would yank away and cry and cry. My milk had come in so she was dealing with a new shape and texture and not having it.
The baby and I had both been in tears, and although I nursed my oldest through toddlerhood, I was about to give up.
I reached out to Dr. Renno, and she was there within the hour.
Within minutes of her arrival, I was so hopeful. She held my baby, checked her over—which is invaluable as a new mom with anxiety!—and then got to work. Dr. Renno not only gave us latching strategies but she gave us a back up plan with finger feeds to keep her on track. From that day forward, my sweet girl has latched and nursed like a champ!
Dr. Renno’s confidence and compassion is exactly what I needed as a new mom dealing with a hungry baby and also my own anxiety. She is our Breastfeeding Angel and I have told everyone I know that is having new babies about her and how she rescued our nursing journey.
